Words of Encouragement November - 30 - 2003
I guess it's only natural to think that the problems of our own time in history are due to the evil happenings of our own time. Thankfully the Bible repeatedly reminds us that God's people have always had to swim upstream against culture. As children of God, we are to be bright stars in the dark night sky of our secular culture. Rather than constantly complaining about our worldly culture or our time in history, let's light the path for others to see another way to live.
The scripture reading today is from
Philippians 2:14-15.14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Let us go to our heavenly Father in prayer.
Almighty God, thank you for calling us to such a high and holy task. We want to shine like a star against the darkness of the culture around us. Please help us as we seek to live a holy life that has a redemptive influence on those around us who do not know Jesus.
