Words of Encouragement
August - 19 - 2007
What are you spending the biggest bulk of your life working for? Is it a boss, a promotion, a sense of importance, a secure lifestyle ...? If it can be taken from you, or you can be removed from it, then it's not very permanent is it! Only what Jesus gives us is truly lasting, and it comes from God's grace. So how can you more fully invest yourself in work that "endures to eternal life"?
Let us read what Jesus tells us in John 6:27.
Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.
Let us Pray.
Un-cloud our thinking, dear God, so that we may more clearly see what it is that we're working for in our lives. Help us find ways to invest ourselves, "our" time, and "our" money in those things that are eternal. But, dear Father, we must confess that we will need Your help to find our significance in our relationship with You and not in what we do, produce, and accomplish. Please forgive and strengthen me as we commit to seek You above all other things.
In the name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.
