Words of Encouragement

Abraham had longed for a son all of his life. Now he was old and seemingly beyond any hope of this. But God worked a miracle and brought Isaac to be the son he had desired! But now God commanded him to sacrifice his son! What can we learn from what transpired?
Let us read Genesis 22:9-12
9 When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham
built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son,
and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
10 Then Abraham put forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here am I."
12 He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him;
for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son,
your only son, from me."Let us pray.
Lord Father in heaven, we now see that You tested Abraham to see if he loved You enough to obey Your command to sacrifice his beloved Isaac! Abraham showed that he loved God even more than his Son! The question for us today is, do we love the Lord Jesus Christ more than anything or anyone else? The answer we will give is in the way we live our lives today, to serve our own wishes, or to do the will of God! We ask You for the strength to enable us to surrender all else and serve Jesus.
In our holy savior's name.
Amen
