Words of Encouragement

We chase after so many different things. Only one thing is needful. Having a fist full of dollars, a great estate, and lots of prestige doesn't mean a whole lot if we've gone to our ultimate address without the Lord. Even worse is to find that in the middle of our busyness, we awake to find ourselves in the barren land where Christ does not dwell and life is not found. Let's not lose our life, our soul, our meaning, chasing after what is not lasting.
The Scripture reading today is Mark 8:36.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Let us pray.
Father, help us to keep our priorities right, our lives holy, and our hearts open to your will rather than being blinded by our own self-seeking.
In Jesus' precious name we pray.
