Words of Encouragement June - 08 - 2003
Evil is constantly bidding us to love and desire more and more of the things that money can buy, and thus to crave and value it above all else! The antidote is to learn instead to be content with the things that God has provided us with a thankful heart! Then we can serve him with joy, enjoying the peace that comes from basking in his love and grace!
These verses from 1 Timothy 6: 6 -10 bring comfort to our hearts.
6 There is great gain in godliness with contentment; 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world;
8 but if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs.Let us pray.
Our Father in heaven, thank you for the many blessings that you given us. Please be with us and help us keep our focus on You and not the worldly treasures.
In Your Son's Holy name we pray.
