Welcome and thank you again for testing your knowledge of God's word. This weeks question:

In Genesis chapter 6-for what did God repent?

In Genesis chapter 6 we find that man is indeed filling the earth. These men are mighty men, men of renown, reminding me of Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 that says "see, is this new? Already it has existed for ages which were before us." We do not remember these times. For they are forgotten with time. And God granted these men time, some to live over 900 years. Plenty of time to develop something more than a cave to live in! Also-as they seemingly were living forever, they had time enough to be full of themselves as pride probably abounded within them, one of the 6 things God hates (Proverbs 6:16).

In the first two verses of chapter 6 we see the sons of God, Seth's descendants, who are followers of God (genesis 4:26) which saw the daughters of men, Cain's descendants (Genesis 4:16) who strayed from the presence of the Lord. As they intermarried, God's ways were not taught to the offspring and although they became great in the eyes of man, they became so wicked that every intent of the thoughts of their heart was evil continually. In verse 3 God says He will not strive with man forever and gave only 120 years before the punishment would come.

Now to our answer, starting in verse 6 we find that God repented, or is sorrowful that he made man upon the earth and He grieves in His heart.

God has granted free will to men. That means we make our own choices in life. He Has given us a 'rule' book to follow, but it is still up to us to follow it or not. God knew men would sin, but I believe He did not allow Himself to think that the beings He created would be this thankless in their respect for their creator and His ways.

So-God sends a messenger, Noah, and for 120 years he strives to turn them from their wickedness, but to no avail, and the rest so to speak is history, as the rains came down, and the flood came up, blotting all but 8 souls and the ark full of companions that comes to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

Let us heed God's word's of warning today, for He indeed is a jealous God. Hear these word's with our ears wide open, with an attitude likeNoah, for he walked with God!

Thank you again for taking of your time to test your knowledge of God's word.
