Welcome, and thank you again for taking a Bible Break to test your knowledge of God's word. This weeks question:
In Revelations chapter 12 we find that there was a war in heaven between Michael and his angels and the dragon and his. In defeat, the dragon and his angels were thrown down to earth. Satan, knowing his time was short (verse 12), is prepared to make war with those who follow the commands of God (verse 17). But God has put enmity between them. That does not mean we're not tempted, for as we see in Job chapter one-Satan requests from God how far he can go with Job. So it is with each of us. In I Corinthians 10:13 God says He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able and in I Peter 5:9 if we resist Satan, firm in our faith-he will flee from us!
During our Lord's time upon this earth, for a little while. He is lower than the angels he helped create (Hebrews 2:9). Satan enlists the help of many upon this earth to defeat the Christ. Men, whose god is their own appetite for power and fear of loosing their place and their nation, John 11:47-53, as they plot together to kill Him. Even some of the rulers who believed in Him, would not confess Him for fear of being put out of the synagogue. Jesus learns obedience to the Father (Hebrews 5:8) by becoming a curse by hanging on a tree-as it states in Galatians 3:13 that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. So, in death upon the cross, yes, Satan does bruise Christ on the heel. Not a final death blow, but a temporary one. Then in the overcoming of death in the resurrection, Jesus deals a blow to death by overcoming it. In I Corinthians 15:54-58 it asks, "O death, where is your victory, O death, where is your sting", for death is swallowed up in victory, and that victory is through Christ Jesus our savior!
Let us stand steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of our Lord.
Thank you for taking of your time to increase your knowledge
