Bible Break

Welcome and thank you again for taking a bible break to test your knowledge of God's word. This week's question:

How did sin enter the world and its consequences?….

Our Lord defines sin in James 4:17 as knowing the right thing to do and yet to not do it! 1 John 3:4-12 further identifies sin as "lawlessness". He goes on to say that the one who practices sin does not abide in the father and they are of Satan. Romans 3:23 says that all have sinned and fall short of God. In Romans chapter 7 Paul says that he would not have known sin if it had not been revealed in the law… So, we too, under the law of the grace of Christ can understand sin by studying to show ourselves approved of God by understanding it (2 Timothy 2:15).

That is why Jesus was sent to this earth and learned obedience to Calvary's hill (Phillipians 2:8). In the shedding of his blood, He took upon himself the sins of the world so that now in a like manner, we are to be buried with him in that watery grave to cleanse us of our sins as we see in Romans chapter 6-to become slaves of righteousness!

So let's look at Adam and Eve. God told Adam in Genesis 2:16 to not eat of the tree of knowledge because the day you eat of it you shall surely die! Satan, by changing one little word of God's instruction, deceives Eve by saying, 'you shall surely not die!' Then she saw how good it looked and remembered what it could do for her. So she ate of it, shared it with Adam, and walla sin is born into the world. They did not obey the command of God!

The consequences:

The ground is cursed with thorns and thistles, and by the sweat of the brow it is worked. Woman is under subjection to man (1 Timothy 2:9-5) and her pain is multiplied in childbirth. Not only will we face physical death as we have seen upon this earth, but also a second death. That spiritual death which awaits us in Revelation 20:14. Unless we abide in him (1 John 3:6).

Let us open our Bibles & study so that we may understand it. Abide in it and stay away from the sin that can so easily entangle us.

Thank you for your time. This is Bible Break and good day!
