Welcome and thank you for taking a bible break to test your knowledge of God's word.
This week's question:

Who is King Agrippa's wife?

While Pilate was struggling with his judgment concerning this man called Jesus, his wife had suffered greatly in a dream because of that same Man and sent her husband a note saying, "Have nothing to do with this righteous Man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him." (Matthew 27:19).

After Felix had heard Paul's defense concerning the charges brought by the Jewish leaders, some days later he came with his wife, Drusilla, who was a Jewess, to hear Paul speak about faith is Jesus Christ, "And as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, 'Go away for the present, and when I find time, I will summon you.'" (Acts 24:25). After two years Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but Paul was left in prison by Felix to do the Jews a favor (Acts 24:27).

That brings us to our question: "Who is king Agrippa's wife?". After Festus heard the defense of Paul, he asked him if he would want to go to Jerusalem with him and give his defense before his accusers, not realizing that the Jews wanted Paul to go to Jerusalem so they could kill him, "And the chief priests, and the leading men of the Jews brought charges against Paul; and they were urging him, requesting a concession against Paul, that he might have him brought to Jerusalem (at the same time, setting an ambush to kill him on the way)." (Acts 25:2-3). When Festus asked Paul if he would travel to Jerusalem to face his accusers there, but Paul appealed to Caesar as he knew of the Jews desire to kill him (Acts 23:16-17).

After some days, king Agrippa came with his wife to show their respects to Festus. While he spent some time there, Festus brought up the case of Paul before the king, and the king said, "I also would like to hear the man myself." (Acts 25:22). So, the next day, amid great pomp, they entered the auditorium, accompanied by the commanders as well as the leading men of the city. Festus addressed the group saying it would be important for even him to listen to Paul so that he would better understand the charges to write when he sends him before Caesar, "For it seems absurd to me in sending a prisoner, not to indicate also the charges against him." (Acts 25:27).

When Paul was permitted to speak by King Agrippa, Paul recounted his dedication as a Pharisee, and how he was on his way to Damascus to arrest more members of the Way, to bring them back to Jerusalem to be punished, and while traveling, he saw Jesus who told him to go into Damascus to look for a man named Ananias, and there he would be told what he must do. When Paul spoke of Jesus being resurrected from the dead to proclaim light to the Jews and Gentiles, Festus said in a loud voice, "'Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great learning has made you mad. But Paul said, 'I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but utter words of sober truth. For the king knows about these matters, and I speak to him also with confidence. Since I am persuaded that none of these things escape his notice; for this has not been done in a corner. King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do.' And king Agrippa replied to Paul, 'In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian.' And Paul said, 'I would to God, that whether in a short or long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these chains.' And the king arose and the governor and Bernice, and those who were sitting with them, and when they had drawn aside, they began talking to one another saying, 'This man is not doing anything worthy of death or imprisonment.' And Agrippa said to Festus, 'This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.'" (Acts 26:24-32 & Acts 25:13). So there we have the answer to our question as the wife of king Agrippa is "Bernice".

May we be more dedicated to the word than King Agrippa as he said, "In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian." (Acts 26:28). Let us not only believe in our Lord, but also make the good confession (Romans 10:9), repent of your sins and be baptized in that watery grave (Romans 6:1-6) for the forgiveness of your sins (Acts 2:38), (washing away your sins) (Acts 22:16).
