Bible Break

Welcome and thank you for taking a bible break to test your knowledge of God's Word.

This week's question:

Who is the Word?

The Word of God, spoken through angels to bring the Old Testament, and then this great salvation. First spoken through the Lord, with signs and wonders and miracles to indeed prove that He is the Son of God. Then spoken from the Holy Spirit to the apostles, mere men.

Hebrews 2:1-4 For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we

have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. For the word spoken through angels

proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,

how will we escape if we neglect so great a Salvation? After it was at the first spoken

through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with

them, both signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit

according to His own will.

In I John 2:1-4 the one who keeps the word will abide in Him, and as he does so, the love of God will be perfected by walking in the same manner as Jesus walked. Also in I John 5:3-5 the true love of God is in keeping His word, and as we walk in Him the love of God has been perfected, and in so doing, we will overcome the world with our faith.

Romans 10:17-18 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of

Christ. But I say, Surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; "Their

voice has gone out into all The earth, and their words to the ends of the world."

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 the word is inspired by God and profitable so that the man of God will be complete. Meaning nothing else is needed but the word of God to become a child of God! Jesus say in John 17:17 that followers of His word are sanctified, or set apart, in truth, and that His word is truth! So as we read the word we understand that all from cover to cover is truth! What a marvelous thing to know and accept, that we can come to the word of God and discover the wonders of life!

Colossians 3:1-4 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking

the things above, Where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the

things above, not on the Things that are on the earth. For you have died and your life is

hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will

be revealed with Him in glory.

Those of us who were buried with him in baptism (Colossians 2:12) are raised up with Him in faith, in the working of God, having nailed our certificate of debt to the cross, to the opportunity of everlasting life.

So, just who is the Word? In John chapter 1 we find our answer, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and John testified about Him saying, "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!"

So, there you have the answer to our question, the Word is Jesus. Yes, belief in Jesus and He will give us life, but let us remember that the demons believe and tremble (James 2:14-26)-so faith without works is useless, so that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone! Let us hold fast to the Word of life and walk as he walked for eternal life!
